iXS Metis Helmet

iXS’ Metis Helmet is the protection and clothing brands’ premium full face helmet for MTB gravity riders. Sensibly priced but still clearly a high end design and product, the Metis is competing with some major players in the industry such as the Kali Avatar and Troy Lee Designs D3.

The iXS Metis pictured in this post is the “Slide” design in blue/black. At the time of writing, the Metis helmet also comes in “Moss” and “Addict” guise in a wide range of colours.

With a fully removable and washable lining inside the helmet, it is easy to keep clean. I like a snug fit in my helmets and the Metis really delivers in this department. A “double-D” ring buckle keeps you secure and while it is probably the trickiest buckle I have used, it is also the tightest locking buckle I have had on a helmet – convenience VS safety is up to the consumer, but I know which one I prefer.

Weighing in around 1100 grams the iXS Metis Helmet is a touch heavier than the ~1050 TLD D3, but with a RRP of $199 it is significantly more affordable. Shock absorbent ABS keeps your head safe while loads of head and chin ventilation keep you from overheating in hot weather too.
