iXS Fastiz BC Jersey and Commox Shorts
iXS’s Fastiz BC Jersey and Commox Shorts are the latest addition to my biking wardrobe and I have to say, I’m loving them. This combo does both trail riding and downhill well, so I can see them being the perfect enduro kit.
Lets start with the “Fastiz BC” Jersey. It’s regular fit – enough room to move in for downhill in but slim enough not to look out of place on the trail. Made from 100% polyester, iXS claims it to be breathable, humidity transporting, quick drying and antibacterial. Mesh inserts on the side of the jersey also help with breathability.
Now obviously, for the most part a jersey is a jersey. I especially like the iXS Fastiz BC Jersey however, because it’s made from comfortable fabric, looks great without being too “race specific” (loud) and has some nice features that you don’t often see on other jerseys. The Fastiz BC jersey features a rear right side zip pocket that is perfect for your MP3 player – guide holes on the inside allow you to run your earphones up the inside of your jersey. On the reverse side of the jersey’s front is a lens wipe – perfect for cleaning your glasses or goggles while out on the trail.
All in all the iXS Fastiz BC Jersey is a nice fitting, great looking, breathable jersey with some cool features. It is currently my go-to riding jersey.
iXS Commox Shorts are from their enduro range, creating another perfect product for those of us who get to trail ride in the morning and downhill the afternoon away. Pedalling up a long ascent, these shorts are great. The Commox Shorts include knicks with enough padding to keep the boys comfortable on a long climb but are minimalist enough that you don’t notice them on the descents. If you are riding downhill for the day, hate knicks or have a favourite pair that you would rather wear, 10 press studs around the inner waistband allow you to pull the supplied knicks out (or snap them back in) in seconds.
Similar to that of the Fastiz BC Jersey, the iXS Commox Shorts are made from antibacterial, humidity transporting, quick dry fabric. In addition, the shorts are also water-repellent and super stretchy, meaning they are lightweight enough to pedal uphill, but have plenty of give for those unavoidable meetings with the ground.
iXS’ AirVent system gives you a some control over the temperature underneath your shorts, however even with the zips closed on warm days they have always stayed a comfortable temperature. Two zip pockets keep things like keys and cash safe, while two hook and loop cargo pockets have you covered for the bulkier stuff.
The iXS Commox Shorts are the best biking shorts I have owned to date. Comfortable, adaptable, stretch and suitable for all conditions (ok maybe not snow), I can see that these are going to be well and truly worn out before I get rid of them.
